Staying Connected while Staying at Home

Dear Families,

In this season, we are working on fun and creative ways to engage our youth while practicing social distancing. We want to teach and affirm that God is good and sovereign (John 16:33), that God cares deeply about our fears and anxieties and he longs for us to bring these before him in prayer (Philippians 4:6-7), and that we are not alone (Isaiah 41:10).

With all of the busyness stripped away from our schedules, our hope is that this will be a time of renewal, a time to invest in reading Scripture together, praying together, and creatively staying in community together. With these goals in our minds we want to share an action plan for our Youth Ministries at St. George's.

We are praying that the Lord will move in the hearts and minds of all our youth during this season. We are here for you and a resource to support you, as parents, at home. Please reach out with any questions or ideas of how to stay connected during this time.

See below for ways to stay connected!

Community

Monday Quarantine Videos

Every Monday we will post a fun video to YouTube for our youth. This will include updates, service opportunities (things they could participate in at home or online) and issue a Weekly Challenge! This challenge will be something to do around the house, but gets them off of technology (ex: best trick shot, an online talent show, singing, best fort, etc.) We will encourage them to send in their video of the challenge by Friday and we will post a winner to Instagram and give out a prize. We are hoping this will be fun to work on throughout the week and promote a sense of belonging to the community.

Instagram

We will be very active on Instagram in the coming weeks with devotional thoughts, updates, quizzes, funny videos, etc. Please encourage your child to follow us to stay up to date. We are @stgeorgesyouth. This is an incredible opportunity to transform social media to be used for the Kingdom!
