The opening chapter of Hosea offers a jarring image of God's troubled relationship with ancient Israel. Although the people's unfaithfulness grieves God's heart and makes divine judgment inevitable, this text points to the unending, perfect faithfulness of a God who ultimately refuses to give up on his people.
