Flood Response in Humphreys County, TN
Our thoughts and prayers are with those in Humphreys County and the surrounding areas who have been impacted by the catastrophic flooding this weekend. As we know, the flooding wrought tremendous destruction, including the death of at least 22 individuals. In response to the flooding, we’ve been in touch with numerous organizations in the affected area. As a result of these conversations St. George's will offer a staged response to assist with recovery efforts.
Stage 1 – Financial Donations
First and immediately, we will direct donations to the Humphreys County Flood Relief Fund. This fund benefits United Way of Humphreys County, and 100% of donations made here will go to help flood victims. This Sunday's loose plate offering will be designated to the fund.

Stage 2 – Book Drive for Waverly Elementary School
St. George’s Church is collecting new and gently used books for students in Pre-K through 3rd grade at Waverly Elementary School. The school has been completely destroyed by flooding, along with 600 homes in the area. Your donated books will be distributed to new school library and to students’ homes. The book drive will continue through the end of September – bring your donations to the drop-boxes by the church library and Legacy Hall.
Stage 3 – Hands on Service
New opportunities have been added to our Mission Day sign up in support of Humphreys County flood recovery efforts. On September 25, two volunteers crews will be dispatched to sort items in a donation center and to muck out damaged buildings. Please sign up to help here.
Thank you for your faithful response as we seek to share the love of Christ with our neighbors in Humphreys County.
