St. George’s Nashville to Host 2026–27 AGO Organ Scholar
Nashville, TN, November 2025—St. George’s Episcopal Church and the American Guild of Organists (AGO) are pleased to announce a 10-month paid internship for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications will be accepted from November 15, 2025 through January 15, 2026 at AGOhq.org.
Through the organ scholar program, St. George’s is shaping the future of church music by investing in gifted young leaders who will carry our beloved tradition forward. This will be the fifth Organ Scholar at St. George’s, and the second made possible thanks to this partnership with the AGO.
Under the direction of Director of Music Ministries Dr. Woosug Kang, St. George's is proud to host a nationally-recognized music program with a deep commitment to the Anglican choral tradition, including a robust chorister program with the Royal School of Church Music. The church is home to Buzard Op. 48, a four-manual, 58-rank pipe organ, which was fully installed and voiced in 2023. The organ is distinctly Anglican-American in character, designed primarily to support worship in the Anglican tradition; however, its diverse and colorful stoplist allows it to beautifully render music of all periods.
The AGO Pogorzelski-Yankee Organ Scholar program offers an emerging musician under the age of 30 an opportunity to work and perform in an outstanding church music program. The successful applicant will receive a $34,000 salary, $3,000 housing stipend, and health insurance during the award year. Funding for the program is supported by a generous bequest from the estates of Ronald G. Pogorzelski and Lester T. Yankee, as well as St. George's Episcopal Church.
Applications for the 2026-27 year will open on Nov. 15 and will be available at AGOhq.org.
