Welcome to the Rev. Margery Kennelly

Dear friends,

I am very pleased to share that I have called the Rev. Margery Kennelly to join our staff as Associate Rector. Margery has most recently serviced as Episcopal Chaplain at the Harvard Episcopal Chaplaincy in Cambridge, MA.  Prior to that ministry she was Assistant Rector at Church of the Redeemer in Chestnut Hill, MA. Margery begins her ministry among us on July 15.

Margery is married to Richard whom she met while they were undergraduates at Harvard and where she graduated magna cum laude, 1987. Richard is an attorney and entrepreneur, a founding member of an innovative cleantech startup, as well as an Olympic medalist in rowing. The Kennellys have two young adult children, Julia and Henry.

Margery received her Master of Divinity degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in 2010, followed by an Advanced Degree in Anglican Studies from Episcopal Divinity School in 2011. Prior to her ordination, Margery was a professional portrait painter, taught drama and music in schools, and directed an acting summer camp.

In addition to sharing in overall liturgical leadership, preaching, teaching, and pastoral care responsibilities with other staff clergy, Margery brings experience and passion to spiritual direction, small group discipleship, as well as to our ministry of faith and the arts.

I am very excited about Margery’s ministry and have been privileged and delighted getting to know her through the interview process. We all are extremely fortunate that the Kennellys discerned a strong call to join what God is doing through our life together at St. George’s. They will be outstanding additions to our ministry team, our parish family, and our Nashville community. Please join me in extending a very warm welcome to the Kennellys when they arrive in mid-July.

In Christ,
