Welcome, Cody Turner!

I originally grew up on the northside of Nashville in the Hendersonville/Goodlettsville area, so I’m very excited about the opportunity to return to my hometown for a season.  I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Church Music from Lee University in Cleveland, TN.  After graduating, I remained at Lee for a year to work in the Admissions Office, then moved to the mountains of North Carolina.  There, I spent a number of years as the Pastor of Worship & Arts at Community Bible Church in Highlands, NC. After a special season there, I felt the tug to return to graduate studies, and enrolled at the Divinity School.

While at Duke, one of the most formative experiences for me has been the community and the spiritual life of the Anglican-Episcopal House of Studies.  In addition to my involvement in AEHS, I assist with the music department at All Saints Church in Durham, and I am a graduate usher at Cameron Indoor Stadium—it’s a great way to get into all the Duke basketball games for free!

My hobbies include exercising, spending quality time with family and friends, and cheering all too passionately for my sports teams—the Tennessee Titans, the Duke Blue Devils, and the Nashville Predators.  I also enjoy reading and discussing theological texts—the works of Robert Jenson are a current favorite of mine.

I’m looking forward to learning and growing at St. George’s this summer!
