The Service of Compline

Stemming from monastic practice, Compline is the last service of the day before bedtime. From the same root as the word “complete,” Compline in the strict sense marks the beginning of a time of silence—from the end of the service lasting until the morning. This brief and beautiful service is set in a darkened church and sung by a small men's choir. Please feel free to venture past the altar rail to the seats along the sides of the altar and the organ console, or wherever you feel most comfortable in the room. Remain as long as you wish after the service in this quiet space, departing in silence.

Unless otherwise noted, compline is held in the Church on Wednesdays at 9:15pm on the following dates:

  • September 19, 2018
  • October 17, 2018
  • December 19, 2018
  • Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 5:00pm
  • February 20, 2019
  • March 20, 2019
