A Parish Pilgrimage to Our Anglican Roots through Music

Father Spruill will be joining St. George's Choir, our young choristers, and many interested parishioners for "a parish pilgrimage to our Anglican roots through music" in the summer of 2008. This will culminate in our choirs singing the daily services in historic Winchester Cathedral July 28th to August 3rd. Fr. Spruilll has been invited by the Dean of Winchester to preach in the Cathedral on August 3rd. The choirs are also planning visits to London, Oxford, Windsor, and York in the days preceding.

You can be part of this exciting and deeply meaningful journey to our Anglican musical and liturgical roots -- either by joining the choirs in the fall (!), joining the tour as a "supporter," or contributing to the scholarship funds. There will be a variety of fund-raising opportunities throughout the season - watch for details!

Winchester Cathedral

The town of Winchester was the capital of Wessex before the Norman Conquest; its cathedral is the longest in England, and but one of many beautiful and historic buildings in the city. For our choirs to offer daily musical worship in a place where this has occurred for over 1000 years will be a rare privilege. With the support of the entire parish, this dream can become a reality. Carol Armes, Libby Weaver, and John Fitzgerald are spearheading fund-raising efforts. Ask them or your favorite choir member for more details!
