Crisis Response Team
Responding to Local Crises
In March 2020, a tornado struck Nashville causing damages to human lives and property. St. George's members leapt into action to respond to the immediate needs in our community, and a committee was formed to respond to long-term recovery needs. In August 2021, following the disastrous flood in Waverly, TN, the newly formed Crisis Response Team was able to send a small group of volunteers to respond to the critical needs of those affected. From these initial acts of love, we learned much about the growing need for additional support for crises and disasters in and around our city.
The Crisis Response Team partners with local disaster relief organizations to provide support for response and recovery needs. Hands on Nashville is the primary organization for fielding disaster response needs and mobilizing volunteers. We are excited to partner with them to send volunteers as needed to respond to critical and ongoing needs in our community. Our volunteers will add to their efforts in the community, bringing comfort, consolation, and much-needed tangible support.
How to Help: Following a crisis, volunteers may be asked to clear debris, help with rebuilding effort, provide supplies, etc.
Get involved: Sign up now to be contacted when there is a future need in our community.
