The Choristers of St. George’s (3rd - 12th Graders)

About the Choristers

The Choristers of St. George’s are 3rd-12th grade singers who glorify God in worship through the beautiful music of the Anglican tradition. (Our singers in the 1st and 2nd grades participate in St. Dunstan's Choir.) St. George’s is a member of the Royal School of Church Music, and as a regular part of musical training, the Choristers work towards ribbons representing levels of achievement in the RSCM Training Scheme. Outside of our commitment to the English Cathedral tradition, the Choristers choirs enjoy seasonal fun activities, such as ice skating, rock climbing, zip-lining, and laser tag.

We are continually delighted to welcome new Choristers into our midst! We believe so strongly in the work we are doing and are extremely proud of the many benefits our singers receive through their participation. Our Choristers are strengthening musically and spiritually as they learn and internalize the greatest music of the Anglican tradition; this incomparable music stays with them and gives shape to their whole lives. In addition to receiving countless hours of specialized musical instruction, our Choristers become strong leaders and mentors who understand commitment, team dynamics, and the great importance and responsibility of leading the worship of almighty God. Much is asked of our Choristers, and they continue to exceed expectations.

The Choristers are joined by the Lay Clerks, who are fine volunteer and staff adult singers from St. George’s Choir.  The Lay Clerks, like their centuries-old colleagues and namesakes in English cathedrals, supply the alto, tenor and bass parts to create the same composition as a cathedral choir.  The musical influence of these exceptional adult musicians upon the Choristers is inestimable.

In 2014 the Choristers and Lay Clerks served as Choir-in-Residence for one week at St. Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland. They distinguished themselves by performing the full duties of a Cathedral choir for the week, singing daily services with skill and beauty.

Parents, please follow the links below to register so that we can have emergency contact information on file and so your chorister can join us for fun activities throughout the year. Thank you!

General Registration & Emergency Contact (Required)

Parent Permission Form (Required) *This form must be printed and returned to the church.

NOTE: Your child's registration is not complete until you have returned both forms.

Unless noted otherwise, rehearsals are as follows. Choristers are expected to attend rehearsal on Wednesday as well as one additional rehearsal on either Monday or Thursday.

Mondays             3:30-4:15pm or 4:30-5:15pm

Wednesdays      5:00-6:30pm (snack at 6:00)

Thursdays           3:30-4:15pm or 4:30-5:15pm

These smaller rehearsals are an incredibly valuable opportunity for the director to work with individual Choristers, which yields significant results. Many Choristers even choose to attend more than one smaller rehearsal per week, which gives them a tremendous boost in strength and beauty of sound, confidence, and leadership; they are also able to earn RSCM medals more quickly.

St. Dunstan's Choir (1st - 2nd Graders)

About St. Dunstan's

St. Dunstan's is a preparatory choir for 1st and 2nd graders that prepares students for the Choristers of St. George's program. This unique children's choir opportunity gives young students education in singing technique, basic music theory and the role music has in the larger context of worship. St. Dunstan's choristers participate in the Royal School of Church Music curriculum that provides each chorister with individual goals that when completed culminate in the awarding of a ribbon worn during their participation in worship services at St. George's.
