New Technology at St. George's

As a part of the ongoing technological upgrades around the Church, a new robotic video camera has been installed to feed a live picture not only to the Internet, but also to Johnson and Hampton Halls. Complementing the new video and audio upgrades to these halls, this new system offers a viable solution to the folding chairs, crowded aisles and congested narthex that have always accompanied the overflow congregations of our major holiday services. For the first time in Church history, overflow crowds can now see and hear clearly all that is happening during the service via the large video projection and audio systems now installed in Johnson Hall and Hampton Hall. A feed to Dandridge Hall is also on the drawing table. The small-but-powerful Sony camera was recently installed in the main sanctuary, and it is manipulated by a handheld controller resembling a typical TV remote.

Apostles of Sound

The Apostles of Sound ministry, which trains and provides volunteers in the manning of the main sanctuary’s audio system, now has an additional task: TV director. With the push of a button, the camera can quickly focus on up to 6 preset angles, with additional zooming, panning, and tilting available at the discretion of the operator. This new technological addition to St. George’s will be a valuable tool for outreach in that now there is a way to bring services to those moving to Nashville and looking for a church home, or to parishioners who are traveling out of town or are sick, or to the elderly, shut-ins, or nursing home residents who are unable to attend.
