Choir of St. Thomas, Fifth Avenue
March 12th at 7:00 pm – Housing Needed
The phenomenal Choir of Men and Boys from St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Fifth Avenue, New York, will be singing a concert at St. George’s on Friday, March 12th, at 7:00 pm. Please put this on your calendar now, as this is definitely a musical highlight of the year for the entire Nashville artistic community! In preparation for this, we need to secure housing in St. George’s homes for the 23 boys and 12 men of the Choir.
If you would be willing to host any of the singers (boys must be at least 2 per home, men can be individual) please contact Music Administrator Kim Messer at 385-2150 x 253, or email kim.messer@stgeorgesnashville.org.
Royal School of Church Music
We are so proud of our children and youth who are engaged in the Royal School of Church Music curriculum through St. Gregory’s and St. Dunstan’s Choirs. Under the tutelage of Dr. Mark Ring, Gerry Senechal, Laurel Fisher, and Rachel Hansbury, our young people spend time each week studying not only musical performance
and musicianship skills, but also studies in both Liturgy and Christian Discipleship. They progress through a range of levels (“colours”) and, based on assessment of their achievements at each level, they may qualify for RSCM medals to be worn with their vestments when singing in worship.

Compline at St. George’s: A Peaceful Night and A Perfect End:
The service of Compline has its origins in the monasteries of medieval Europe, where this unusually calm and tranquil liturgy was the final corporate prayer of the monks before retiring for the night. St. George’s offers this beautiful service by candlelight at 9:15pm on the third Wednesday of every month. The service will last no more than 25 minutes and will feature the Men of St. George’s Choir singing plainsong and other musical forms a capella in the darkened sanctuary. The service will be held behind the altar in the Apse area with seating in the chancel. You are welcome to participate actively in the service, or you may prefer to sit anywhere in the church and pray silently. However you will choose to worship, please join us to experience God through a very meditative yet uniquely liturgical form of praise at St. George’s.
Join us on the following evenings at 9:15pm for the service of Compline:
- January 20
- February (No Compline)
- March 17
- April 21
- May 19
