Sunday Morning Worship

Welcome! We extend a warm welcome to you and your child to St. George’s Episcopal Church. We want to provide a safe, clean, and happy Christian environment for the youngest members of our church family. In order to make your child’s worship experience enjoyable, we recommend that you sit close to the front so your child can see. We also provide various items to help children worship during this time.

Children’s Liturgy Booklet

These are located in the Narthex (before you enter the sanctuary) in a wicker basket. The liturgy booklet contains pictures from our service and words that are tied into the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd presentations. This is a good teaching tool and allows the child to see where we are in the service. These should be returned to the basket at the conclusion of the service.

Children’s Bulletins

These are located in the Narthex in acrylic stands. There are two different sets of bulletins – one for ages three to six and one for ages seven to twelve. Both bulletins are designed to include the Gospel reading of the day.

Children's Chapel

During the 8:45 service, children ages 6 through 11 process out of the adult service to Johnson Hall during the Gospel hymn for their own teaching time. They return to the nave for the eucharist. Children under 6 accompanied by an adult are also welcome. Children's Chapel meets most Sundays during the winter worship schedule.

3 to 5 Years Old

We encourage parents to allow their children to attend church services with them. However, childcare is offered for 3 year olds through age 5 and is available at the 8:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. church services on Sunday (or the 10:00 a.m. combined church service during the summer).

  • 3 years old by September 1 in Room 112
  • 4 and 5 years old by September 1 in room 113.

Please sign in and make a name tag for your child. We provide snacks of juice and vanilla wafers. Please notify the childcare staff if your child has any allergies.

If you leave your child in childcare, we encourage you pick up him/her at Communion so that your family may celebrate the Eucharist together. All children remaining in the childcare rooms will be led into the church for a blessing.

Younger children may become upset if their parents return with them to their room after the church service to take them to their Discipleship room (the Atrium). Please indicate on the sign-in sheet if you wish for the childcare worker to take your child to his/her room. You will then pick up your child from the Atrium at the conclusion of the Adult Education time.

Infants Through 2 Years Old

Nursery is divided into three age groups and is offered at the 8:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. church services on Sunday (or the 10:00 a.m. combined church service during the summer). Nursery is also offered during Christian Formation (10:05 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. September-May and 9:00 a.m. – 9:50 a.m. June-August)..
