Each year it’s a challenge to experience anew, as if for the first time, the heart-wrenching sufferings of Jesus for us and the glories of His Resurrection. Handel’s Messiah has been helping people to do just that for two and a half centuries. Join us for six Wednesdays as we study the Lenten portion of Messiah with the Rev. Roger Senechal guiding us through the biblical passages and Carol Armes teaching us the musical aspects of this unforgettable and monumental oratorio.  Questions? Call the Rev. Roger Senechal at 942-7723.

Holy Desires: Creating Redemptive Relationships is for those desiring holy and life-giving relationships in their life. The classes will help people invite God into their daily relationships, whether with friends, family, or significant others.  The series consists of three parts, each with two sessions: Connecting with God, Connecting with Others, and Strengthening Relationships. The sessions will include presented materials as well as interactive discussions.

In addition, on each of the following Tuesdays (January 10th-February 14th), an optional on-line “threaded discussion” on the same material will be hosted for those participants who were unable to attend on Thursday, or who would like additional discussion on the previous week’s topic.

Childcare will be provided by reservation only; there is no cost to participate in the program.  To register for the class or reserve childcare, contact 385-2150 x 262 or reserve@stgeorgesnashville.org. Questions? Call Agatha Nolen at 400-0611.

Opportunities Especially for Women

LIFE: Living In Faith Everyday

The Rev. Marcia King

In a LIFE group, women learn how to receive, live, and share the abundant life of Jesus Christ. It is a group focused for and about women in Christian leadership. LIFE is not a Bible Study, fellowship group, support group, accountability group, or a prayer group. It is a combination of all of these and more. We learn together, laugh together, support one another, are accountable to one another, and grapple with issues. The curriculum appeals to the mind, heart, and soul. If you can commit your time and effort to learning more about yourself, leadership, the Christian faith, and building relationships, then LIFE is for you. The next LIFE group will begin in Winter 2010. If you are interested, contact The Rev. Marcia King at 385-2150 x 214 or marcia.king@stgeorgesnashville.org.

Women’s Huddle Groups

The Rev. Marcia King

A “Huddle” is a challenging accountability group. In a Women’s Huddle we:

  • Hear stories of God at work in the lives of the Huddle members
  • Hear stories of God at work in their missional situations
  • See positive changes in character in response to God’s initiative
  • See skills develop and flourish
  • People grow in self awareness and maturity
  • Laugh, celebrate, and have fun together

The key questions asked are: What is God saying to you at this time? What are you going to do about it? If you would like to be part of forming a new Huddle, please contact The Rev. Marcia King at 385-2150 x 214 or marcia.king@stgeorgesnashville.org.

Opportunities Especially for Men

Christian Leadership Concepts

Big commitments most often yield big benefits. Such is the case with a growing men’s discipleship ministry at St. George’s. The groups, referred to as “CLC Groups,” utilize materials developed and provided by Christian Leadership Concepts, a Brentwood based organization. Each group is comprised of up to 12 men andcovers everything from becoming “a man after God’s own heart” to learning how to “stand with a friend” to “reforming our community.” Each group is free to establish its own meeting schedule, though most meet together early one weekday morning for 2 hours. The CLC groups are an excellent combination of fellowship, Bible study, in-depth discussions, and developing lasting friendships. If you’re looking for a way to intentionally grow as a man who follows Jesus Christ, you need look no further.

For more information or to register for a group, please call Larry Trabue at 352-0023.

Other Opportunities for Adults

Community Groups

Do you ever feel like a "lost sheep in the very place where you thought you'd feel more connected to other people? One way to stay vitally connected to others is to join a Community Group, a monthly gathering of friends who meet together for food, fun, and fellowship in one another's homes. Be on the look out for a Community Group coming to a neighborhood near you!

Gifts and Talents

A six-session workshop that helps Christians discover and affirm their God-given talents. Experiences will include Bible study, thoughtful reflection, modest reading assignments, and sharing positive experiences in small groups. The classes will meet twice a week for three weeks. Dates and times to be announced.

Newcomers Orientation

Occasional classes to introduce participants to the basics of the Christian faith, the distinctives of the Anglican/Episcopal tradition, the history of St. George’s, and the shape of a growing Christian life. Watch for more details or call the church office at 385-2150 to find out more.
